Andrew Lee Jenkins (born December 1988) is an American marketing entrepreneur, author and podcast host. He is the founder of Andrew Lee Jenkins LLC, a marketing agency based in Richmond, Virginia that works with home service companies, and the author of You Are the Bottleneck: The Home Service Owner's Guide to Getting Out of the Way.[1][2]

A mechanical engineer by training, Jenkins spent more than a decade as a designer and engineer in the water treatment and industrial sectors before moving into marketing.[6] He founded his agency in 2022 and has run it as his primary occupation since 2023, working with contractors and other home service operators across Virginia.[6][1] He has since launched the Growth Unfiltered podcast, The Blueprint, a training program for owners who market their own businesses, and Seedly, a software company building tools for small businesses and agencies.[3][6]

Early life and education [edit]

Jenkins was born in December 1988 in Arlington, Virginia, and grew up in Winchester and Culpeper, Virginia.[7] He attended Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering.[6][7]

Career [edit]

Engineering

Jenkins began his professional career in July 2012 as a mechanical designer at Infilco Degremont, a water treatment engineering firm in the Greater Richmond region, and was promoted to proposal team lead designer in 2016, remaining with the company until October 2017.[6] He subsequently worked as a PID manager at SUEZ in North America from 2018 to 2020, as a field engineer at Dibert Valve and Fitting Company from 2020 to 2021, and as a mechanical designer at Progressive Design, Inc. in Richmond from 2021 to December 2023.[6] He has described this period as more than a decade of engineering and design consulting for Fortune 500 companies.[1] Alongside his engineering work he ran Open-box Heaven, an eBay resale business, from 2013 to 2017.[6]

Andrew Lee Jenkins LLC

Jenkins started Andrew Lee Jenkins Marketing in January 2022 while still working as an engineer, and has run the business as owner since January 2023, leaving his final engineering position at the end of that year.[6] Writing about the transition, he has said that he did not set out to be a marketer, and that he came to it after "a brief stint in the engineering world and a cult", taking what he had learned about "people, patterns, and persuasion" into a business.[1]

The agency, registered as Andrew Lee Jenkins LLC in Richmond, provides local lead generation, website design, branding, photography and video, and business consulting to home service companies.[1] It works across trades including roofing, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, painting, solar, excavation, landscaping and tree service.[1]

In July 2026 the agency announced a dedicated contractor marketing initiative covering eight Virginia regional markets, namely Northern Virginia, Winchester, Fredericksburg, Charlottesville, Richmond, Lynchburg, Roanoke and Hampton Roads, under a model that partners with a single contractor per trade in each territory to avoid competition between its own clients.[5]

You Are the Bottleneck was published in August 2026.

Jenkins is the author of You Are the Bottleneck: The Home Service Owner's Guide to Getting Out of the Way, published in Kindle edition on 10 August 2026.[2] The book argues that growth in home service businesses is limited less by lead volume than by the owner's own involvement in day to day operations, and covers the scheduling, follow-up, invoicing, pricing and delegation systems a business needs in order to run without its founder.[2] It reached number one in Amazon's 90-Minute Business & Money Short Reads category in 2026.[2]

He also publishes the Exposed series, a set of articles on identifying underperforming marketing agencies, and the Field Notes newsletter.[1]

Growth Unfiltered

Since April 2024 Jenkins has hosted Growth Unfiltered, a weekly podcast documenting the practical realities of building a marketing agency.[3][6] He has described the format as unscripted and unsponsored, covering agency growth, pricing, systems, hiring and client acquisition.[6] He has also appeared as a guest on other business and marketing podcasts, and has been quoted in outlets including Grit Daily, Featured.com and Small Biz Digest.[1]

The Blueprint and Seedly

In July 2025 Jenkins launched The Blueprint, a subscription program providing standard operating procedures, training videos and a community for small business owners who market their own companies.[4][6]

In January 2026 he founded Seedly, a software company producing tools for small businesses and agencies.[6] The product line includes Seedly CRM, a customer relationship management platform sold as source code; Seedly Sites, a website builder with an AI design agent and template library; and Seedly Communities, a community platform with courses, events and live streaming.[8][9][10] He has said the products are intended to let agency owners escape recurring software subscriptions and take ownership of their own tool stack and data.[6] Several of the tools began as software his agency built for its own use.[1]

Approach and reception [edit]

Jenkins's stated position is that most home service businesses do not have a lead generation problem but a systems problem, and that marketing spend applied to a business with broken operations produces waste rather than growth.[1] He has attributed this view to his engineering background, describing his work as diagnosing process failures rather than selling tactics.[1]

His public material is written in a deliberately blunt register, summarized by the agency tagline "No bullsh*t. Just scale."[1]

Personal life [edit]

Jenkins lives in Richmond, Virginia.[7] He is single and has no children. Outside work he takes part in shooting sports and airsoft, and spends time outdoors.
